For teachers and parents

Before handing out the worksheet

Review the add-12 / subtract-12 rule. Write 14:00 = 2 PM on the board and show the math. Emphasize that midnight is 00:00 (the trickiest one) and noon stays 12:00. Students who get those two right usually get everything else.

Challenge variations

Time the class: fastest correct sheet wins. Or have students create their own questions and exchange with a partner. For advanced practice, have students convert real train schedules or TV listings from a European website.

Common mistakes to watch for

Students often write 1:00 PM as 1:00 instead of 13:00 — remind them 24-hour time always uses two-digit hours. Another common slip: writing 12:00 AM as 12:00 instead of 00:00. Midnight is always 00:00 in 24-hour time.
